Mahmoudah Young was born in New York City a year after world war two had ended. Her father died when she was 3 and she was separated from her mother at the age of 10. She graduated from high school pregnant in 1962 and went to live with a man she considered to be her savior. Their union lasted for 16 years, and she had baby after baby for ten years straight. in 1977, she escape her emotionally abusive husband, leaving the children behind. it would take 15 years for her to be reunited with them. She attributes their reconnection to her chanting nam myoho renge kyo to the gohonzon (sacred mandala of the nichiren buddist sect founded in 1300 centrury japan).

Akoshia Yoba is a creative non-fiction writer. “The Screw Factory: Secret Rites of Passages” was her first collaboration with her mother. Her first published book is entitled “Please Return My Phone Call: Preventing the Demise of Personal and Professional Relationships” which she co-authored with her brother. This book shares her views on personal integrity and follow through. She is an educator and speaker who is focused on issues that improve the quality of life for all of us. Her outlook on life is bound to put a smile on your face!

Their healing journey takes you along with the writers’ as girls, young women, wives, and mothers.
