ARTICLE - Connecting Courage and Fear

I have seen many quotes start out this way. The ending is what caught my attention. "Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear. The brave may not live forever, but the cautious do not live at all. From now on you'll be traveling the road between who you think you are and who you can be. The key is to allow yourself to make the journey."
- Meg Cabot

How do I allow myself to make the journey…fear and all? How do I stay focused on the greater vision that's more important than the fear?

The questions go together. Being brave and doing uncomfortable things relies on the fact that there is a goal greater than your fears.

I have been sharing my vision with new people here in Seattle, after recently relocating. When I meet with people to network, there is a thought that tries to take up residence in my head that says "I really hate meeting people cold, and what am I going to wear anyway." Will I let it stop me from taking action? When it stops me, it's a moment of staying in my comfort zone and living cautiously. When I hear the thought and risk it anyway, it's my rock solid stance that I am working on something greater than me and my measly old fear.

Here is my three part strategy for how I have been feeling the fear and doing it anyway.

1) Keep going…inch along with each moment, just like the caterpillar I watched cross the sidewalk today with all sorts of obstacles and dangers in his way. He never stopped, and finally made it to the lush grass on the other side. I remind myself that moving bravely in any direction feels better than standing still in fear.

2) Hold steady…know what I know, and speak what I believe. I stay grounded and trust that my mission in life is unfolding in divine timing. I feel my feet on the ground as I walk, and feel the strength in my body to embrace every day as a new adventure without judgement.

3) Live optimism…stay in the positive and find the funny in my life. I remind myself daily of the Tao story with the sage who said "Who's to say what is good and what is bad?" The less I judge my experiences, the more freedom I feel.

Keep going with an eye toward positivity, Hold steady that your contribution is unique and NEEDED in the world, and Live optimism because that is one way you can help create a healthy and positive world.

Life is a series of experiences to feel and embrace. Make yours organic and orgasmic ones. :)

FINDING THE FUNNY - Nuns Going hee hee hee

One day in the convent the nuns had their morning prayer session.

At the end of the prayer session, the head nun stood up and addressed the rest of the nuns.

She said, "There was a man in the convent last night."

99 of the nuns go ohhhh , and 1 of them goes hee hee hee .

The head nun goes on, "We found a condom in the garden."

Again 99 of the nuns go ohhhh, 1 nun goes hee hee hee.

The head nun continues, "There was a hole in that condom."

99 nuns go hee hee hee, 1 nun goes ohhhh.

FINDING THE FUNNY - Jesus vs. Moses

Two old friends — Quinn, a Christian, and Sophie, a Jew — are in the middle of a lunch date when Sophie says to Quinn, "Don't take this personally, but how can you honestly believe that Jesus walked on water, turned water into wine and made the infirm walk?"

"Well, look at it this way," says Quinn. "Maybe there were rocks beneath the water's surface, and he crossed over them. Or maybe there was a little wine in the water, and that's what someone tasted. As for healing the sick, maybe they just needed his guidance. But who are you to question my beliefs? What about Moses parting the Red Sea?"

Sophie nods thoughtfully. "Wasn't that something!"

Can we agree that they are, at least, good stories?

ARTICLE - The Art of Change

I was inspired to write this article because I have recently relocated from San Francisco to Seattle. With any relocation brings a change or two with it. The first week I was here, every time I stepped out of the door I felt like I was in the Land of Oz. Even though I have visited Seattle plenty of times over the last 30 years, it all feels different to me knowing I am navigating my life here now.

I have found three strategies that allow me to adapt to new environments and keep in the organic and orgasmic flow.

Listening more than talking is always my first strategy. My attention and intention is on learning new habits, systems and structures that allow me to be my best. Where will I take my walks? Where will I meditate? What do I do, and where do I go to feel at home? Listening to the locals around me give me ideas for all of that. Self-care and finding my routines always comes first. Learning where the grocery store, gas station, bus stop, and landmarks for north, south, east and west become an acute new awareness. It is a different level of listening. I know that I am stimulating a different part of my brain as I adapt to this new environment.

Secondly, I ask myself how I can contribute to the whole of this new environment. It takes me out of the focus of not knowing, and into a creative way to view my change. I am staying with dear friends who have a wonderful10 year old boy. I am observing and being with the needs of this active household. How do I add to their flow, and they to mine. It is an "in the moment" consciousness of how to make every thing you do organic and orgasmic. I am always reminding myself not to judge my experiences as good and bad…only as learning.

Finally, I remember everyday to acknowledge the courage, confidence and grace it takes to make changes and stay in the flow. Whether I am leaving Seattle for the countryside or making a trip to a new market, I congratulate myself every time I successfully navigate a new adventure on my own.

Negotiating change is inevitable.

BE the artist in your world of change. What are your three strategies for flowing with change?

Dr. Shelley Childers grew up in Fairborn, Ohio…listen to her story in her own words…a small town girl living in a large universe! I always dreamed of being someone who brings great change to the world, yet I wasn’t sure how until a few knee injuries led me to see my chiropractor. After realizing that the power that MADE my body can actually HEAL my body, I knew I wanted to pursue chiropractic not only as a profession, but as a lifelong lifestyle. I worked for my chiropractor while majoring in exercise science at Wright State University, however I was on a mission to be a chiropractor as soon as possible. The universe responded to my request and took me to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa to complete my Bachelor’s of Science Degree in 2004 and begin the chiropractic curriculum in 2005. I graduated from Palmer with high honors in October, 2008, and am now on an endless vacation of being, doing, having, creating, and generating a phenomenal life!

I’ve served over a thousand people abroad, in Morocco and in Brazil. I’m so grateful that I’ve had the opportunity to share the message of chiropractic with people around the world, and I plan to continue sharing that message by serving on Mission of Light trips with AdJust World.

My heart sings with joy when serving people the gift of chiropractic… the gift of life… the gift of expanding your awareness of your body and its inborn potential to heal. I look forward to sharing with YOU the infinite possibilities of life, health, wellness, well-being, and communion with your body! How does it get any better than this?

I’m also a Licensed Facilitator of Access Energy Transformation, a set of tools and processes that generate change and facilitate more consciousness on the planet. What would it be like to function with more consciousness and awareness and change your whole life into something unimaginable?

FINDING THE FUNNY - 11 on a Rope

Eleven people were hanging on a rope under a helicopter during a daring rescue…10 men and 1 woman.

The rope was not strong enough to carry them all so they decided that one had to let go, otherwise they were all going to fall.

They weren't able to choose that person, until the woman gave a very touching speech.

She said that she would voluntarily let go of the rope, because, as a woman, she was used to giving up everything for her husband and kids or for men in general, and was used to always making sacrifices with little in return.

As soon as she finished her speech,

All the men started clapping . . .
